A jazz student since the age 12, Irvin studied under several Chicago young musician programs. His mentoring began with Merit School of Music, Jazz Institute of Chicago, Jazz Ambassadors and After School Matters. Irvin’s Jazz performances awarded him (3) consecutive IMEA (Illinois Music Educator Association) Honors Soloist award for Tenor sax performances. Irvin attended New School of Music, studying under bassist Reggie Workman and Temple University Jazz Studies under Terrell Stafford. Since 2014, he has embarked on a musical career, performing with artists such as Maurice Brown, Mono Neon, Chris Dave and appeared on a video release of Mary J. Blige. He has performed alongside Trumpeter Marquis Hill, toured with Ernest Dawkins, Robert (Bobby) Irving III, and most recently internationally with drummer and producer Makaya McCraven. He played the 2019 Newport Jazz Festival and NorthSea Jazz Festival, Netherlands with lineups of Herbie Hancock, Christian McBride and Ravi Coltrane.
